Testimonials
“Today I participated in the GYNCA Spring Luncheon
survivor fashion show. I was asked because I am a cancer
survivor and I reached out to GYNCA a few months
ago for financial assistance. You know when you meet
someone and find out you have something in common
and it becomes a connection, an instant bond, and it’s like
you’ve been friends forever? Imagine a room filled with
women whose one common bond is gynecologic cancer.
We were instant family. I found myself greeting people,
not even knowing their names. I was telling them how
beautiful they were, listening to their stories, sharing mine,
hugging like we had always been buddies, and then all of
a sudden one would ask, “What’s your name?” Our names
didn’t matter; we were sisters. As I looked around the
room at all of the survivor models’ signs, 26-year survivor
to 4-month survivor, I was overwhelmed with emotion. The
crowd gave us a standing ovation. I found my mom in the
crowd and that made me cry harder. My hero, my rock, had
her camera pointed at me and my sign. Can’t wait to see
THAT picture with my ugly face cry! I walked away from the
luncheon feeling tremendous support, having made new
friends and new hope. Fresh wind, fresh fire. Thank you,
GYNCA.”
