Page Background GIVING n Mission Statement The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. n Service Area While our volunteers are likely to go anywhere in America when a major disaster strikes, the American Red Cross of Southern Missouri chapter serves the following 29 counties: Barry, Barton, Carter, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Douglas, Greene, Hickory, Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Polk, Reynolds, Ripley, St. Clair, Shannon, Stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Webster, and Wright. n Funding Our funding goal for the year ahead is to raise nearly $800,000 in our Southern Missouri Chapter area. We plan to accomplish that through two special events; corporate, foundation, and individual giving; as well as our incredibly generous support and partnership with the United Way of the Ozarks. n 12 Month Goals Our service goals include increasing the number of home fire responses by 4% from last year and install 1,100 smoke alarms within our communities through the efforts of our Home Fire Campaign. Through this campaign we hope to also reach 1,700 youth through our Pillowcase Program. Through our Services to Armed Forces programs we hope to increase our non-emergency services and increase our Community Volunteer Leaders within our Volunteer Services. n Annual Events We are excited to announce that in 2017, a special Centennial celebration is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, May 16 to recognize A Century of Service to Southern Missouri. Another event to be held in July is our 24th Annual State Farm Red Cross Disaster Services Open. This special outing raises funds for our disaster relief efforts and offers participants some fun in the sun. n How People & Businesses Can Help At the American Red Cross of Southern Missouri, local supporters are vital to the success of our mission. It takes commitments of time, treasure, and talent to help us carry out our mission and vision each and every day. From volunteers on the front line to our annual financial supporters, their generosity makes what we do possible! Financial donations help the American Red Cross maintain our capacity to respond immediately whenever someone is in need. You can truly help save lives through your generosity and commitment. From donating an old vehicle to hosting a local event, there are many creative ways individuals and businesses can contribute. n Volunteer Opportunities Volunteers are invaluable to the Red Cross of Southern Missouri’s daily operation and are truly the heart and soul of the organization. Volunteers carry out more than 90% of our humanitarian work. From serving meals to disaster victims to helping with blood drives, volunteers contribute throughout our communities. Our volunteers help their neighbors prepare for disasters and also recover from the aftermath. They provide administrative assistance, install smoke alarms, and teach children the importance of being prepared through the Red Cross pillowcase project. n Testimonials “Thank you for your generous support through this devastating time on the loss of our home. You don’t realize how trying and empty you can feel until you lose everything.” — Bud & Pat ADDRESS: 1545 N.
