Governing Structure
Odessa is governed by a mayor and board of aldermen. Aldermen are elected to two-year terms. Odessa’s three wards each have two
aldermen. The mayor also is elected to a two-year term.
Decisions in the city are made by a simple-majority vote on behalf of the aldermen. In event of a tie, the mayor is able to cast a vote.
