Mission Statement
The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools (FSPS)
provides resources for each school in our district,
supporting nearly 25,000 students annually. Since its
inception in 1990, the Foundation has raised more than $17
million to support Springfield Public Schools.
Our mission is to raise, manage, and distribute private
investments to benefit the students of Springfield Public
Schools. Our vision is to promote educational excellence
for every child by working with the public school system
and the community.

and foundations throughout the community and
surrounding areas.
n
Goals
To support classroom needs by providing academic
opportunities for students, scholarships, teacher-requested

n
Annual Events
The FSPS hosts a variety of events year-round. The
Back to School grants program being the most impactful
by providing additional funds and academic opportunities
to classrooms and teachers. The Back to School grant
program awarded more than $240,000 to fund 101
classroom projects in 2016-2017. The annual Kum & Go
Gallons for Growth fundraiser is a 24-hour event held in
the spring each year that raises funds to
support Back to School grants. The
Pick-a-Project grant program runs
from October til May each year, and
is an online fundraising program to
benefit teacher-submitted classroom
projects. In 2016-2017, Pick-a-Project
raised more than $11,500 to fund 39
classroom projects. The Annual Teacher
Appreciation Banquet in April celebrates
and honors teachers in Springfield Public Schools, while
raising funds to support the Foundation’s mission.

Testimonials
“Our teachers want the most for their students and
sometimes that requires resources beyond what our
limited budget can provide. Through the generosity of
donors, the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools
helps fund experiences and materials that make learning
more engaging, relevant and personal for our students.
These private dollars invested in educating our students
will pay dividends to our entire community as our students
become successful graduates and productive citizens.”
