2020-2021 Focus on Oak Grove City Guide Page 53 Service Chamber of Commerce The Oak Grove Chamber provides leadership by connecting people, resources and opportunities within our community where we live, work and do business. The Chamber is formed of local business people interested in helping their fellow local businesses. Members are promoted through the Chamber of Commerce official area network, mobile app, calendar network and search engines. Some chamber benefits are direct such as networking events and discounts on products and services that people already use every day. Other benefits are indirect, such as governmental efforts that serve as an advocate for businesses. While Chamber events have been canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus in 2020, traditional Chamber projects include the Taste of Country, an event to showcase local restaurants and entertainment establishments held in April at the Fieldhouse; the annual Panther Scholarship Golf Tournament, an event held in June to benefit local graduates; and the Oak Grove Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival, which includes food, vendors, entertainment, and family games. The Chamber sponsors a farmer’s market, which is held April through October on Broadway, near the railroad tracks. The Chamber of Commerce dedicates proceeds from the yearly golf tournament to scholarships for graduating seniors; however, due to the inability to have a golf tournament in 2020, the Chamber has adjusted the amount of the scholarships which are given through the Oak Grove Education Foundation. For 2020 and 2021, the Chamber is providing three $500 scholarships. The Chamber holds an annual banquet in January where it recognizes citizens, businesses and volunteers of the year. The organization also assists in the planning of the Fourth of July celebration held at Bent Oak Park, the Trails for Treats trick-or-treating event in downtown, and the Christmas parade.
