Page Background Chamber Directory Letter If you’re doing business in the Springfield region, you already contribute to the economic growth happening in our community. As you browse this Book of Lists and keep it as a valuable reference on your desk, you might be surprised at the variety of businesses and industry sectors here in Springfield. The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, a member-driven organization, leads the way as the voice of business in our community. We’re keenly focused on growing the economy, creating jobs and expanding economic opportunity for everyone who lives here. Our member directory, included in these pages, lists the business and professional organizations that come together to ensure a healthy business climate through the work of the Chamber. We work to serve our members and the business community through our four strategic areas of focus: creating growth, taking action, getting connected and developing our workforce. And as we talk to our members about their future and their needs, the response is consistent and strong: The local economy is set up for growth, but recruiting, training and retaining the right people remains a significant challenge. Recruiting talented people remains a top challenge, which is why we have made workforce development one of our top priorities. From our GO CAPS student development program to our Talent Attraction Initiative, we’re looking to attack the issue from multiple angles. We’re also hard at work advocating for workforce development funding and programs at the state level – just one of several items on our legislative agenda designed to help pave the way for business growth and development. All these efforts to help find the right workers are crucial, as many of our largest employers are in growth mode. In the last three years, the Chamber and its economic development arm, the Springfield Business Development Corporation, has helped to create nearly 1,400 new jobs with $54 million in new payroll and $232 million in new capital investment. In short, the Springfield regional economy is moving forward. All the pieces are in place for continued prosperity in the coming years. And the Chamber is working to lead the way toward continually improved quality of life for everyone, built on the strength of our businesses.
