Sports Town co-owner Stan Liedel, who is president of L5 Management, told Springfield Business Journal in a 2023 interview that the 23 acres at the front of the property are in the works to be developed commercially, with expectations for hotels and restaurants at the site. Liedel could not be reached for comment on this article by press time. Sports Town General Manager Chris Martin said in an email he would defer a request to comment to the ownership group behind Sports Town. Over 100 acres at the Sports Town site that’s owned by SGF Sports LLC, according to Greene County assessor records, is split into two parcels, with the front 23-acre portion facing Chestnut Expressway.
