SPRINGFIELD BUSINESS JOURNAL · 21 APRIL 8-14, 2024 MEN OF THE YEAR 2024 TAWNIE WILSON Scott Rose, a Realtor with Murney, adheres to a personal motto: Putting people first. “I don’t look at my business as just transactions,” Rose says. “I am responsible for helping my clients with one of the largest financial decisions they can make. To me, it’s not just about getting the deal closed. It’s about helping my clients do what’s best for them.” Rose began his real estate career with Carol Jones in 1998, moving to Murney Associates, Realtors in 2000. Having closed over 1,000 transactions representing over $100 million in sales, owner Patrick Murney says that Rose has left an indelible impression on him. “What sets Scott apart is not just his impressive track record, but also his unwavering commitment to integrity and honesty,” Murney says. “In an industry where trust is paramount, Scott consistently upholds the highest ethical standards, always putting his client’s best interests first.” In 2021, Rose received the Award of Excellence Gold Medal Life Member, given to real estate agents who have sold over $20 million for three consecutive years, and in 2023, Rose was named Murney Associates Agent of the Year. Rose recalls one of the most challenging yet rewarding parts of his career was taking the role of president of the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors in 2007 when he was 30, making him the youngest president to serve at the time. “During my term, I helped guide our local industry through one of the toughest real estate market corrections in the past 30 years,” he says. “It not only helped me learn how to be a better Realtor to serve my clients but it also gave me confidence that helped me with all aspects of my life.” Shortly after, Rose joined the board of directors at the Missouri Association of Realtors in 2008 as an at-large member. “Very few Realtors ever get to serve as a board member at the state level,” he says. “It was an honor to be asked to serve.” His leadership roles didn’t end there. Since 2017, Rose has served as chair of the board for BluCurrent Credit Union, where he helps mentor nonvoting associate board members, to prepare them to become voting board members. In addition to the credit union, Rose is also a mentor through Murney’s Realtor training program. “I influence the success of my clients as I help them make their real estate goals become a reality,” he says. “My role as a Realtor is to be an adviser to help them be successful in whatever their current need is.” Rose has also been an active member in the community. He has been a member of the Southeast Rotary Club of Springfield since 2007, and for 19 years he helped with the Rock ‘n Ribs BBQ Festival, which raised money for local children’s charities. Rose has also served on the boards of The Victim Center, Court Appointed Special Advocates of Southwest Missouri, River Bluff Fellowship Church, and the Rotary Outdoor Creamery Art Center classroom. —Nicole Chilton, Contributing Writer In His Words Family: I have been married to my wife, Rebekah, for almost 25 years and we have one son, Sam, who is currently at Ozarks Technical Community College studying to be a commercial pilot.
