Nixa cafe closes as new owner sought by SBJ Staff · sbj@sbj.net A Nixa cafe in business since 2018 has closed as a new owner is sought. Morning Day Cafe announced in a Facebook post on April 25 that it "will be closed until a new owner is obtained." "We understand the importance that MDC has in the community and intend on bringing back the exceptional food and service once the proper people are in place," the post reads. "We will only consider buyers with prior restaurant experience that are financially stable and intend on upholding the Morning Day Cafe image and reputation." Located at 101 S. Main St., the Nixa restaurant has menu items that include the Breakfast Chimichanga, The Bomblette, an omelet with pulled pork and cheddar cheese curds, and S.S. Wafflebird, a dish of sweet and spice Belgian waffles. It also serves coffee, tea and other drinks. In a separate Facebook post on April 14, Morning Day Cafe indicated co-owner Miranda Barchers had retired. The post stated that investor Mark Anderson partnered with Barchers to open the restaurant in 2018. "Mr. Anderson was left with the decision to keep the cafe going or let it close down. With the change in management and the uncertainty of the future of MDC, several of the employees decided to leave," the post reads. • Phase I of Ozark apartment complex to debut this fall by Geoff Pickle · gpickle@sbj.net Bryan Properties LLC is targeting a launch later this year for the first phase of an Ozark apartment complex. Ron Davis, spokesperson for the property manager and developer, said Phase I of River Ranch, comprising 60 of 240 planned units, is projected to open in September. HC Rogers Construction Group LLC is serving as general contractor for the project designed by Buxton Kubik Dodd Design Collective, Davis said. He declined to disclose the project cost and was unable to provide a full timeline on the apartment complex by press time. Officials with the Show Me Christian County Economic Development group see the River Ranch project as a boon to population growth. “The first step to increasing Christian County’s professional workforce is to provide modern, accessible housing,” said Kristen Haseltine, president and CEO of Show Me Christian County, in a news release. “It’s a necessary step for growth. The adage ‘retail follows rooftops’ holds true for attracting new businesses of all kinds to the county.” The River Ranch development, 2390 W. Spring Drive, was announced in March 2022. • provided by BRYAN PROPERTIES LLC HC Rogers Construction is serving as general contractor for the project designed by Buxton Kubik Dodd Design Collective.
