SPRINGFIELD BUSINESS JOURNAL · 17 MARCH 6-12, 2023 40 UNDER 40 To Chase Marable, leadership is a verb. “Leadership is not a title given to you,” he says. “Leadership is the action in how you conduct your behaviors to yourself, others and the community.” This philosophy has shaped the client-first approach he’s fostered as managing director at Connell Insurance. When providing risk management services, Marable, 27, strives to offer cost-effective options through a pressure-free experience to local businesses and organizations. In addition to serving his clients, he also serves his community. Over the past three years, he’s worked as chair of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Walk/ Run to End Childhood Cancer in Springfield. Through the event, he’s led a team of community leaders, advocates and patient families to raise more than $606,000 for pediatric cancer research and treatment. Your proudest moment? Providing the children at St. Jude over 363 days of chemotherapy. Your professional aha moment? When I was mentored to focus on a niche. Being niche-based allows you to grow within an industry and develop relationships that would not be possible without a strong understanding of a certain industry or product. This allows you to excel faster and help more people. Best piece of advice you’ve ever received? “Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It’s what you do for others.” —Danny Thomas —Tessa Cooper, Contributing Writer CHASE MARABLE Connell Insurance Inc. Almost a decade after graduating from dental school, Dr. Ashley Meyer has become the owner of her own practice while staying heavily involved in local and state industry organizations. Meyer, 34, has owned Dental 32 since 2018, at which time she had four employees. She says the staff, which is all women, has since doubled. Prior to Dental 32, Meyer’s career in dentistry started in 2014 at Northside Dental Clinic. Her community involvement includes serving as past president of the Greater Springfield Dental Society and on the Missouri Dental Association Board of Trustees. The industry has noticed her activity, honoring her in 2021 with the MDA Outstanding New Dental Leader Award. It’s an honor she says her father, Dr. Thomas Meyer, received in 1994. What was your first job? Working in my dad’s dental practice and as a server at Wannagetta Pizza. What about your job would shock people? The amount of Botox and filler that I do! I have been injecting for over seven years and love these adjunctive procedures that make my patients happy and feel beautiful. What did you learn the hard way? To have good, solid boundaries as a business owner. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Work hard so you can play hard. What is your most treasured possession? My Bengal cats. —Mike Cullinan, Reporter DR. ASHLEY MEYER Dental 32 LLC HEATHER MOSLEY 2023 Class of 40 Under 40 We’re proud of you!
