Sunshine St. Owner Charity Fent said the company is leasing roughly 3,100 square feet between Olive & Ivy Boutique and The Brentwood Barbershop. She declined to disclose terms for the eight-year lease with Jared En- terprises Inc. or relocation costs. Founded in 2015 by Fent and her husband, Justin , the company makes custom cakes for birthdays, weddings and other special events, according to its website. Fent said the eight-employee store also sells cakes for same-day pickup, dubbed “cash and carry.” The in- store cakes range $45-$95, based on size and flavors, such as red velvet, churro and banana, accord- ing to its Facebook page. Charity Fent Cake Design’s other bakery items include cupcakes, cake pops, cheesecake and cookies, she said. The venture launched May 10 at 302 S. Pitts St., just off Jackson Street, one of the town’s main thoroughfares. Shanda Kloster said she and Cathie Davis co-own the venture and estimated they combined to invest around $40,000 in startup costs. Lease terms with landlord Phil Joyce were not disclosed. The Hidden Hut’s drinks include smooth- ies, teas, coffee and flavored wa- ters. Drink prices range $1.75-$7, Kloster said. Food options rang- ing $3.50-$5 also are on the menu, including muffins, quiche, scones and steel cut oats. The 750-square- foot cafe also has a small gift shop space with products such as sham- poo and conditioner bars and bath salts. Kloster is a licensed esthe- tician with space in The Shabby Sheep, a Marshfield boutique. Da- vis, a licensed massage therapist through her Shift Into Balance practice, offers services five days a week at The Hidden Hut. Cherry St. The first-time business ownership venture for Blake Gam- mon and Tommy Buterbaugh features a 3.5-acre dog park; a 6,000-square-foot building for day care and boarding; and a bar and patio area. Buterbaugh declined to disclose construction costs, but a building permit filed with the city recorded a $1.4 million estimated valuation. Gammon said he and Buterbaugh are longtime friends and previously worked at Gammon Equipment Co., a forklift dealer- ship owned by Gammon’s family. The dog park requires daily or an- nual passes, but the bar, which also serves food such as sandwiches and pizza, is open to the public. A day pass is $10 per dog and annual memberships can be paid monthly for $21 or yearly for $230, according to its website. Day care prices are $25 per day and boarding is $35 per night. Additional costs apply for ex- tra dogs in the same household.
