With a tax- burden index score of 74.47, Greene County ranked No. 79, based on average income, sales, property and fuel taxes. The higher the score, the lower the tax burden. Like the vast majority of the state, Greene County’s income tax is $9,983. Its sales tax is $964, with a property tax of $1,229 and fuel tax of $247, according to the study.
