CoxHealth expands agreement with Humana by Geoff Pickle · gpickle@sbj.net CoxHealth signed a commercial net- work agreement that expands an existing relationship with health insurance com- pany Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM). Health care system spokesperson Kai- tlyn McConnell said the deal announced at the end of October provides in-network access for Humana commercial plan members at all of CoxHealth’s facilities, including its two Springfield hospitals. Previously, Cox Medical Center Branson was the only entity that had in-network coverage for Humana commercial mem- bers, she said. McConnell declined to disclose the fi- nancial terms of the deal, which took effect Nov. 1. CoxHealth is “contracted with most ma- jor insurance companies in the market,” McConnell added. In its third quarter earnings report, Hu- mana recorded $20 billion in revenue and $1.3 billion of profit. Net income was up roughly 95% from the third quarter of 2019. The company’s shares were trading at a 52-week range of $208.25 to $474.70.
