HURRICANE HEROES In the aftermath of Hurricane Laura, international humanitarian relief nonprofit Convoy of Hope has provided more than 1.5 million pounds of food and supplies to people affected by the disaster as of Sept. 9, says Stacy Lamb, senior director of U.S. Disaster Services. The Springfield-based organization has established a field distribution center in Lake Charles, Louisiana, right. Between Texas and Louisiana, 32 deaths are blamed on the storm that came ashore as a Category 4 hurricane in southwest Louisiana near the Texas state line on Aug. 27.
