Its ministry is moti- vated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Service Area Christian and Greene Counties Programs and Services • Back-to-School Assistance – The Salvation Army has adopted York and Bissett Elementary Schools, and provides all the supplies for all students. • Housing and Shelte r – Every single day, The Sal- vation Army provides shelter or housing to those without. This includes our Family Enrichment Center and Harbor House. • Emergency Social Services – Rental, prescription, transportation, and food pantry assistance. • Food Assistance – Daily local feeding programs for the homeless, senior citizens and children. • Summer Day Camp and After-School Programs – Safe, fun and affordable options for families. • Worship Center and Services – Traditional weekly services, youth and children’s activities, and out- reach events. 12-Month Goals Over the next 12 months, the Springfield Salvation Army will continue to provide services for those in need with a special focus on those impacted by COVID-19 and the marginalized in our community. We will learn lessons from the pandemic and work to improve our services to youth, adults, seniors, the homeless, the hungry and those impacted by disasters. We will find creative ways to fund our work, be good stewards of those funds and give our donors more reasons to be confident in supporting our work and mission. We will also look to the future and develop strategic plans to keep pace with our everchanging community. How People and Businesses Can Help The Salvation Army is one of the most efficient and effective nonprofit organizations around, with $.82 of every dollar going toward direct support of vital local programs and services. Outright gifts such as cash, securities, real estate, or tangible property can benefit The Salvation Army’s programs here and now. Chari- table gift annuities, remainder trusts, bequests or life insurance policies are also a few ways you can leave a lasting legacy for future generations. Annual Events • Tree of Lights Christmas Campaign – The Salvation Army’s largest annual fundraiser allows us to provide services to thousands all year long. • United Way Day of Caring participant agency. • National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger food drive beneficiary organization.
