Ozark-based Larry Snyder & Co. was general contractor on the 48,000-square-foot project, with Fort Walton Beach, Florida-based JDF Architecture LLC as designer. General Manager Brenda Dent said 68 people work at the venue, which offers over 100 hands-on exhibits focused on science, tech- nology, engineering and math. Exhibits include an interactive sandbox, an astronaut training gy- roscope and a room to create large bubbles, according to its website. Tickets are $29 for adults, $20 for ages 5-12 and $15 for seniors; ages 4 and under are free. Bran- son is the first Missouri site for the 22-year-old WonderWorks con- cept that originated in Orlando, Florida. The company has five other locations. Second St. Dubbed Venue on Brick II, the 1,600-square-foot space on the Ozark square is designed to hold smaller capacity events, including birthday parties, baby showers and business meetings, said employee Jessica Wood. The venue capacity is roughly 50 people, she said, in contrast to Venue on Brick’s 209 N. Second St. space, which accommo- dates up to 200 guests. Husband and wife Jonathan and Lisa Lane own both buildings and the event businesses, Wood said, declining to disclose startup costs. The 111 N. Second St. space was formerly oc- cupied by gift shop Signature Style LLC, she said. Venue on Brick II is available for daily rentals at $200 for three-hour increments Monday through Thursday and $275 Friday through Sunday, ac- cording to its website. The academy, which includes a full-service, student-run hair salon, recently resumed operations after being closed several weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic. Emily Luna, who co-owns the venture with husband Derek , declined to disclose startup costs or lease terms with Tillman Redevelopment LLC. La Luna took on roughly 4,500 square feet in a building formerly occupied by Mister Furniture. Emily Luna said the salon fills the downstairs portion, offering men’s and women’s haircuts and styling, coloring, nail and waxing services. Cosmetology classes for students seeking their state license are held upstairs. Luna, who moved back to her hometown in 2019, has 13 years of salon experience. She formerly worked in the Los Angeles area, in- cluding Beverly Hills’ Cush Salon.
