G IV I N G O P P O RT U N I T I E S Mission Statement Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Service Area The Ozarks, which include 18 counties in southwest Missouri Funding Our free programs are generously funded through donors, United Way of the Ozarks, grants and other community contributions, as well as event fundrais- ing and our Think Big Foundation, which processes and sells used clothing and other items collected locally. We proudly play the Great Game of Business and practice open-book management to build in the transparency and accountability needed to fully max- imize our resources. 12 Month Goals We hope to grow our agency capacity to serve more children in our community. In early 2019, we were able to once again open our waiting list. As we show the Ozarks how valuable a caring, consistent adult is to a child, we expect more families and volun- teers will seek out our services and opportunities. Our agency hopes to hire more staff and seek new avenues for resources to meet that demand and serve even more youth in the year to come. Annual Events • Ozarks Beerfest – November 16, 2019 • Taste of the Ozarks – April 30, 2020 • Bowl For Kids’ Sake – Week of July 30, 2020 How People and Businesses Can Help • Fund a match. We rely on our monthly donors, or MatchMakers, who make all our matches possible. • Invite us to come speak. Many kids in our com- munity are in crisis and unless everyone knows about the issues and solutions, we cannot build the village needed to defend their potential. • Get involved; be the village. You can volunteer your time, host a clothing drive, donate your services, etc. No matter who you are, you can make an impact. Testimonials Nick has been matched with his Big, Springfield Police Captain Tad Peters, since 2012 “Tad has been one of the biggest impacts on my life. He’s taught me a lot, like, police officers aren’t the bad guys, not all men are abusive, that there are men that can be depended on to do and say what they’re going to do, and that succeeding in school could give me a better future. Tad has helped me through many issues, many of which he never knew about. I’m not sure how my life would be different if I had never met Tad, but I do know that he has changed my life for the better.” B I G B R O T H E R S B I G S I S T E R S O F T H E O Z A R K S A D D R E S S 3 372 W.
