2023-2024 Odessa City Guide Page 73 Schools Wellington-Napoleon Some area residents with Odessa addresses located north of town may belong to the Wellington-Napoleon R-IX School District. With the mission of “Students First for a Better Tomorrow” WN R-IX serves 380 students from the communities of Wellington and Napoleon, as well as many students from rural Lafayette County. The Wellington-Napoleon schools have a 15:1 student-to-teacher ratio. The school offers a full day preschool program for ages 3-5 that was started in 2014. The district boasts a 97.5% graduation rate and 96% attendance rate. WN R-IX is fully accredited through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The district offers a variety of extra and co-curricular activities to students to supplement the educational process. High school students have the ability to take dual credit coursework through the University of Central Missouri, and Central Methodist University. Vocational training is available to students through Lex La-Ray Technical Center and Fort Osage Career and Technical Center. The district also participates in the A+ program and has a School to Work program for approved seniors through the vocational agriculture department.
