Organizations Puddle Jumper Days The Puddle Jumper Days parade is a highlight of the annual festival. Frog and turtle races are a popular Puddle Jumper Days activity. Puddle Jumper Days is an annual tradition celebrated the first full weekend in August, dating to Odessa’s centennial in 1978. Puddle Jumper Days was named after a train called the “Puddle Jumper” which stopped in Odessa and other area towns. Activities are varied on Friday and Saturday. Area organizations raise money by sponsoring booths and local businesses donate funds to support activities and entertainment. Live entertainment is available. Children’s activities include a Little Mr. and Miss Odessa contest, frog and turtle races, bicycle races and a carnival full of exciting rides. Other events and activities include a talent show, 5K run, art show, Optimist kiddie train and plenty of old-fashioned games. Live bands are featured on Friday and Saturday nights. A parade is held Saturday at 10 a.m. There is always something for everyone to enjoy. The Puddle Jumper Days Committee is made up of volunteers from the Odessa community. The committee may be contacted through their website, odessapuddlejumperdays.org. A talent show, “Odessa’s Got Talent,” is one of the events at Puddle Jumper Days.
