2023-2024 Odessa City Guide Page 57 In early 2018, store owners in the historic downtown Odessa shopping district formed a group to work together promoting and encouraging downtown business. The Downtown Merchants group has continued to grow and expand each year since. Past events held by the group include a yearly Wine Walk in June showcasing local business and area wineries. October brings the Ghouly Girls Night out encouraging costumed shoppers in our downtown. November and December brings Christmas Open House, Shop Small Saturday and the Jingle Bell Walk. Last year the organization added Third Thursdays where downtown shops stay open until 8 p.m. the third Thursday of each month from May-September. A Petals and Peddlers Market was held in the spring. Love on the Block Chocolate Walk is a favorite for February and this year the organization had fun with a Snow Day Scavenger Hunt in January for prizes. Current of cers are president Connie Simmons, Marmee’s, vice president Janet Smith, Borgman’s Dairy, secretary Amy Burnett, Woodruff’s on Second, and treasurer Jamie Wimberly, Silver Fox Antiques. Other members include John Spaar, The Odessan, Deb Fiene, Tilley’s, Monica Eddington and Michelle Anderson, Elysian Cove, Bree Willard, 5th St Boutique, Rebekah Lamb, Hair Mechanix, Jolene Hennon, 3 Women and an Oven, Nick and Laura Conn, 2nd Street Nutrition, and Kendra Redden.
