Broadway The Davis Center was created in 1992 with memorial funds Devone Davis willed to Christian Masonic Lodge #392. Ownership of the center is now with the city of Oak Grove. The Oak Grove Parks & Recreation department may be contacted at 690-4003 X4 to reserve the center. Oak Grove Senior Center offers service to those 60 and older or disabled in Oak Grove. Center provides lunches to citizens age 60 and older for a suggested donation of $2. Other persons are allowed to eat for $6.75. Center hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Center is closed on major holidays. Volunteers meet at 10 each morning to package meals for the Meals on Wheels program for individuals who have need for food assistance. Program, offered through the Mid-America Regional Council, serves homebound seniors. Area churches rotate volunteers to deliver these meals to individuals. Transportation service is available for those who live in the city limits and are unable to get to the center. Center has a treadmill for exercise and pool tables for enjoyment. Residents are encouraged to come before or stay after lunch for activities such as Bingo, knitting and Friday game days. Routine blood pressure checks are given at the Davis Center. The Sni Valley Fire Protection District performs blood checks every second and fourth Tuesday after lunch. The fourth Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. - noon, Visiting Nurse Association is on-site for blood work and blood pressure checks after lunch. The Senior Center has monthly outings to various places around the area. Some upcoming trips are, Ameristar Casino, KC Zoo, Burr Oaks, Union Station, and to movie theaters. Senior Center also has a catered-in meal from a surrounding business to celebrate any holidays that are taking place that month, or the holiday is celebrated potluck style.
