Mayor & Board of Aldermen

Brad Alexander,

alderman ward two,

who has served 20 years on the Board

of Aldermen, is a lifelong Oak Grove

resident. Alexander graduated from

Oak Grove High School in 1975. He

holds a bachelor of science in Criminal

Justice from the University of Central

Missouri.

Alexander is a Contract Investigator

for the United States Office of Personnel

Management.

His wife, Sue, is president of the Oak

Grove R-6 School District Board of

Education.

Alexander was appointed in 1997 to fill

a vacant seat in ward two, was elected in

1998, and reelected nine times. He also serves as mayor pro tem.

Jeremy Martin,

was elected mayor of Oak Grove in 2014 and reelected to the office in 2016.

Martin had previously been a member of the Oak Grove Planning and Zoning Commission.

He and his wife, Jamie (Langston) have lived in Oak Grove for eight years. Couple has two

daughters, Presley, 16 and Madyson, 14.

Martin grew up in Independence and is a 1995 graduate of Truman High School. He attended

Longview Community College.

He currently works as project manager for Schindler Elevator.

Jeremy

Taylor

,was elected to his third full termon

theBoardofAldermen inApril 2016and isa

14-year resident ofOakGrove.Hegrewup in

Blue Springs and is a 1996 graduate of Blue

Springs SouthHighSchool.Taylor attended

Northwest Missouri State University and

theUniversity ofMissouri,KansasCity and

later earned a bachelor’s degree inmanage-

ment from Park University in 2009.

Taylor’s wife, Shari, is a 1998 graduate

of Oak Grove High School and works at

St. Luke’s hospitals. The Taylors have two

children, daughter Alex, 10 and son Jake,

7. Taylor has served on the Board of Zoning

Adjustment and the Oak Grove Planning

and Zoning Commission.

Hank Melhorn,

alderman ward one, is a

47-year resident of Oak Grove. Melhorn

graduated from Fort Madison, Ia., High

School in 1959 and attended Drake Univer-

sity, where he majored in business.

Melhorn is retired from General Motors,

where he was employed for 32 years.

He and wife, Connie, have been married

for 52 years. She is a former member of

the Oak Grove R-6 Board of Education.

They have two children, Mark, Oak Grove,

and Kristi, Blue Springs, and four grand-

children.

Melhorn has co-owned Jenkins and Mel-

horn, Inc. for 38 years. He was chairman

of the Park Board and the Board of Zoning

Adjustment (BZA), and he brought that experience to the Board

of Aldermen.

Melhorn is serving his seventh term, and is the liaison to the

Planning and Zoning Commission.

Larry Moore

, alderman ward two, born

and raised in Oak Grove, has lived in the

community for 70 years and is a graduate

of Oak Grove High School. He is now in

his seventh term of service on the Board of

Aldermen.

He attended Finlay College and received

a degree in mechanical engineering, and

later began driving a truck for Par Electric.

He then went to Adams Transfer, driving

a tractor and trailer, and ended up driving

for Safeway until the company closed. He is

now retired.

He and his wife, Marsha, have four grown

children. Moore has been a member of the

First Baptist Church of Oak Grove for 58 years.
